To be fair, you don't listen to KOST for historical perspective

My Kim Amidon post is the gift that just keeps on giving. It appears that people are still really displeased with Kim Amidon's dismissal, even though it took place almost a year ago.

Bob Z was listening to the new team, and offered this comment:

I was listening to them for the first time this morning. Never listened after Kim left. So they are doing the Hollywood gossip thing and this Kristen says Benicio Del Toro hopes everyone will watch his new 4 hour movie "Cheee". That's right, she had no idea how to say the name.

Unfortunately, Mark didn't impress Bob much, either:

So Mark comes in to gently correct the situation and explains that the movie is about the Bolivian Revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Rivera. That's right, he said Rivera, not Guevara.

Now to be fair, a KOST deejay doesn't necessarily need to know the historial context of Cuban ideology; he or she just needs to know the names of the songs that they play, know the name of the traffic reporter, and be able to declare that it is "72 degrees along...

...the KOST."

And I don't know that Amidon is getting into heavy political discussion at K-EARTH, especially since I'm not sure if K-EARTH deejays are allowed to mention the Reagan Administration yet...and you have to get tired of talking about WIN buttons and a "crisis of confidence" after a while.
