In the interest of being fair and balanced, I should mention something that I read on the Twitter blog:
Something we were watching very closely this year during the [SXSW] conference was service reliability. The thin brown line across the top of this graph represents the 99.97% uptime Twitter measured during the week.
Over a 7 day week, that's only a little over 3 minutes of downtime. Not shabby. Especially compared to previous performance.
I think it's the carpets. See Stowe Boyd's carpet post here, and Twitter's own "Office Improvements" post here. Though I still disagree with this whole "working at common tables" thingie.
