Non-Business Twittering and Getting Louis Farrakhan to Talk Like a Pirate

Yes, Twitter has its business uses, but it has non-business uses also.

Found this at the 21c Twitter account.

Arrrr. Here be some tips on how to talk like pirates, maties. http://www.talklikeapirate....

And yes, it's more than just saying "Arrrr" (though that obviously helps).

But if you need extra help, the Talk Like a Pirate people have provided an English to Pirate translator, courtesy Trevor Sehrer.

Hence this post.

As you may know, I recently mashed up Talk Like a Pirate Day and Louis Farrakhan. Perhaps a little more mashing is in order.

Let's take a particular phrase as Farrakhan originally stated it.

The first four letters of the word form the foundation; "a-t-o-n". . . "a-ton", "a-ton". Since this obelisk in front of us is representative of Egypt. In the 18th dynasty, a Pharaoh named Akhenaton, was the first man of this history period to destroy the pantheon of many gods and bring the people to the worship of one god.

Just run it through the translator, and we get this:

The pirate speaks,"T' first four letters o' t' word form t' foundation; "a-t-o-n". . . "a-ton", "a-ton". Since this obelisk in fore o' us be representative o' Egypt. In t' 18th dynasty, a Pharaoh named Akhenaton, was t' first man o' this history period t' destroy t' pantheon o' many gods and brin' t' people t' t' worship o' one god."

Here's another sample:

A woman, remember the nine, means somebody pregnant, with an idea. But, in this case, its a woman pregnant with a male child destined to rule the nations with a rod of iron. God is standing over her womb, and this child will be like the day sun, and he will say "I am the light of the world."

And the result:

The pirate speaks,"A beauty, remember t' nine, means somebody pregnant, with an idea. But, in this case, its a beauty pregnant with a male child destined t' rule t' nations with a rod o' iron. God be standin' over her womb, and this child will be like t' day sun, and he will say "I be t' light o' t' world." "

Hmm. This is more fun than Scots. (Note that this is a rare link to my Yahoo blog. Not sure what will happen to it when Yahoo Mash emerges for the masses.)

P.S. Since Kevin and Bean have been major publicists of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I immediately turned to KROQ this morning. However, they were on vacation. So instead I listened to AM 570's version of T.J. and Tracy vs. Producer Laura.
