More on the Devore Earthquake

Followup.

Yes, I know it wasn't that big a deal, but this way I can avoid having to come up with a "Dear Coach" question.

There's sumfin called the Los Angeles Times Pressmens 20 Year Club, and they had a very brief mention, as well as links to USGS reports.

Kateithne felt more than I did:

Was like a block of wind hitting the house, then about 2 seconds later the shaking.. about 5 or so min later it was followed by an aftershock.

Be sure to see Kateithne's "let's praise small earthquakes" comment.

Just as well it wasn't a bad earthquake, because emergency response wouldn't have been as good as it was previously.

A decade ago, California was authorized to have 21,000 in its guard force. Today it's down by 5000, the size of an entire infantry brigade. The unit that responded to the Northridge earthquake no longer exists.
