Why software developers shouldn't be Soviet planners

I'm gonna create a software package, and I intend that you use it for function A, and if you want to use it for function B, you're WRONG.

Actually, the customer is always right.

Bear this in mind as you read Dave Winer's suggestion for comments on Twitter. Yes, it violates Twitter's simplicity and possibly leads to bloatware. But people want it.
