I have been urged for some time to try out Disqus and have been researching it a bit, but tonight I have taken the plunge. If everything works properly, this will be the first post on the mrontemp blog that includes Disqus comments. If I haven't done everything properly, then look forward to "Disqus Integration, Part Two."
Some real-time observations on the setup process:
- As I started my setup, I ran into three prompts where I was asked to enter my blog URL, my blog name, and (under the "Admin" section) a subdomain. I was entirely clueless regarding what to put in the subdomain field, which turned out to be a required field.
- Unfortunately, there was no help on that page, so I couldn't get the answer right there.
- I ended up at the Disqus forum, but unfortunately the forum is not searchable (or at least I couldn't figure out how to search it).
- When all else fails, go to Twitter. I tweeted my problem at 0408 GMT, received an unofficial offer of help from Steven Hodson at 0409 GMT, and received an official answer from Daniel Ha at 0418 GMT. Now that's service.
