John Lennon? A new yorker?
Surely, you define such things upon where they were born, not where they spent their last days.
He's a liverpudlian, a city which I'm catching a train to tomorrow.. today, really. It's past midnight.
You do have a point, and Lennon was probably much more of a traditionalist then he let on, and he certainly appreciated Liverpool in some way. Yet, on the other hand, he left Liverpool in 1963 and never really came back except as a visitor. In some respects he outgrew Liverpool, and there were many things in London and New York that had profound influences on him.
Perhaps this is my personal perspective - I've spent over half my life in California, and I believe it's shaped me much more than the three previous states where I've lived - but in Lennon's cases, he was as much a non-Liverpudlian as he was a Liverpudlian.
Harrison, of course, is the most dramatic example of someone who was profoundly influenced by other things during his adult years.
John was an American New Yorker.
Or so he appeared.
