What Adobe says about photoshopelementsdeviceconnect

If you've been reading backwards and have concluded that I'm really really interested in photoshopelementsdeviceconnect, then this knowledge base support page from Adobe may change your mind.

The Adobe Photo Downloader process started by Photoshop Elements 4.0 is called "APDproxy.exe," and the Photoshop Elements 3.0 process is called "PhotoshopElementsDeviceConnect.exe."

Guess what? I have Photoshop Elements 4.0, so forget about everything you ever read about photoshopelementsdeviceconnect. But perhaps I should read the article, since its title is Disable Adobe Photo Downloader in Photoshop Elements 4.0. Here's a bit of the article:

By default, Adobe Photo Downloader starts each time you connect an external image device to your PC. You can prevent this from occurring by disabling Adobe Photo Downloader in the Photoshop Elements preferences. You can easily re-enable the Photo Downloader at any time.

To disable the Adobe Photo Downloader:

1. In the Photoshop Elements 4.0 Organizer, choose Edit > Preferences > Camera Or Card Reader.

2. Deselect "Use Adobe Photo Downloader to get photos from Camera or Reader."

Just as well. I hate the Adobe Photo Downloader anyway.
