Photoblogging - Jefferson Davis Statue, June 15 2007

Remember how Lee's allegiance to the Confederacy cost him his house and lands? Well, in a move that demonstrates that the Federal Government doesn't control everything, you can see this statue in the U.S. Capitol.

Yep, that's Jefferson Davis, leader of the insurrection against the United States, prominently on display in the U.S. Capitol. You see, the states themselves get to choose which statues will represent them in the Capitol, and Mississippi chose to honor Davis.

By the way, Lee's in there also.
