It's morning in America, but not in Japan

Excerpts from Worlds results after the short program.

1 Yu-Na KIM KOR 71.95
2 Miki ANDO JPN 67.98
3 Carolina KOSTNER ITA 67.15
4 Kimmie MEISSNER USA 64.67
5 Mao ASADA JPN 61.32
6 Emily HUGHES USA 60.88
9 Sarah MEIER SUI 58.52
10 Susanna POYKIO FIN 57.16
16 Joannie ROCHETTE CAN 49.85
17 Kiira KORPI FIN 49.63
18 Alissa CZISNY USA 49.43

For those who were not awake, here's what Korpi did:

The warm up for Group 5 is begining, they have a total of 6 minutes, all five skaters are on the ice. They are showing Midoriti Ito ight now who is commentating for the Japanese network.

Here we go, warm up is now over up first is Kiira Korpi of Finland

Kiira Korpi - FIN

Opens her program with a nice 3L-2T combination. footwork into her 3F, steps out of her landing. nice layback spin. Her spiral sequence has great stretch. Her straight line step sequence works well with the music. She attempts a 2A, but only manages to do a waltz jump. It is followed by her flying sit spin and than into a combination spin, that leads to her final pose. Her TE score 25.97 and PC at 23.68 a total of 49.63...

Now I admit I don't know what a 2A is, but presumably it's more socially acceptable than an SPH. We'll see what happens in the next...um...leg. (Or is it foot?)

2A, means a Double Axel jump. What's an SPH?

Thanks for explaining 2A.

SPH is not figure skating related (at least I hope). It stands for "sales per hour," and is used by call centers.
