People are using all sorts of metrics, primarily financial, to measure the decline of printed newspapers as online news becomes more prevalent.
But Mike of Franklin Avenue, in a post regarding the latest job cuts at the Los Angeles Times, discusses a novel method to measure newspaper decline:
The paper has gotten so thin now that my home's sprinklers now regularly soak it all the way through. Not too long ago, there were enough ads and sections that at least the meat of the paper wouldn't get wet. Not anymore.
