Hear me out.
Howard Cosell and other Americans have criticized soccer for being such a low-scoring affair. Americans love offense, they say.
Well, let's look at a very offensive sport, Arena Football. This is a form of (American) football that is played indoors...on a small field...resulting in very high scores.
The name of the league is the Arena Football League, which amuses older Americans because "AFL" was also the initials of the 1960s American Football League (most famous player: Joe Namath).
So what about an Arena Soccer League, in which a basketball/hockey arena is converted to a small soccer field, in which the L.A. Dynamites defeat the Silicon Valley Clouds by a 23-18 score?
Thoughts?
