Sometimes blogging is just easier than tweeting

I got into a Twitter conversation with Bryan Person.

BryanPerson Flight booked for Community 2.0 Conference in Las Vegas next month. It'll be my first time in Vegas! #C20

oemperor @bryanperson you've never been to vegas before? prepare for an experience. where is your conference located?

BryanPerson @oemperor Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa. Good? I know nothing about venues there.

oemperor @bryanperson not sure exactly where red rock casino is located, but i don't think it's on the strip. i believe @roadup is from vegas

At this point Twitter did not meet my capacity to respond, so I've come here to finish up my thoughts. First I went to Google Reader:

[OOPS: THE EMBEDDED MAP, AT LEAST AS I'M VIEWING IT NOW, SHOWS A LOCATION ON THE EAST SIDE OF LAS VEGAS. THE CASINO IS ACTUALLY ON THE FAR WEST SIDE OF LAS VEGAS. IT SHOULD SHOW CORRECTLY IF YOU GO INTO GOOGLE YOURSELF. SO MUCH FOR EMBEDDED MAPS.]

This told me all I need to know. The good news is that the Red Rock Casino is far away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. The bad news is that the Red Rock Casino is far away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. For example, if you want to drive from Red Rock Casino to Caesars Palace, you're looking at over 18 miles of freeway driving.

But, as you can tell from the name, you're as close as you can get to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, which is absolutely beautiful. Here's a picture I took in March 2005.

So, if at all possible, rent a car so you can visit Red Rock Canyon to the west, and the Strip to the east.
