X Marx the Hope

Followup to a September 6 post in which everybody's coolest revolutionary, Che Guevara, was being discussed.

At the time, I quoted Prophet of the Prairie.

Some dude is going to auction a lock of Che Guevara's hair. This is weird news. But, I'm really blogging about this because I think that it's really cool to have Che's picture on my blog. It says "I'm a rebel."

Well, Prophet of the Prairie didn't cover Che's latest appearance, but Reverse_Vampyr did.

We already know Barack Obama isn't a big fan of the American flag. Which is why this pic is so interesting. His supporters don't mind flying a flag. Just not America's

The pic above is from Barack Obama’s campaign office in Houston, decorated with a flag of communist revolutionary and terrorist Che Guevara.

See a video which shows the flag.

Lonewacko asked the Obama camp for an explanation:

I called the Houston Volunteer office - presumably the one on the tape - and the lady who answered the phone said there had been a "misrepresentation" and told me to call their Austin office. That office has not yet opened, so I was able to speak with Josh Earnest from their main media relations department. Despite a bad connection he clarified that the office on the tape is not and will not be an official office, so I've updated the title of this post to include "(volunteers)". He directed me to the following which has since been appended to the Fox 26 report:

The office featured in this video is funded by volunteers of the Barack Obama Campaign and is not an official headquarters for his campaign.

That conflicts with the statement from Fox 26 implying that the volunteers were just there to open the office, and that that very office would later be occupied by Obama staffers.

Here's the statement at the Obama website:

On Reports of an Inappropriate Flag in a Texas Obama Office
February 12, 2008

From Houston Fox News:

"The office featured in this video is funded by volunteers of the Barack Obama Campaign and is not an official headquarters for his campaign."

Frankly, this explanation makes sense to me. Just because a candidate attracts bizarre supporters doesn't mean that the candidate should be responsible for said supporters. I mean, should Hillary Clinton be responsible for Ann Coulter?

Speaking of Hillary Clinton, she has her own embarrassing photo.

Whatever Coulter and others may say about John McCain, somehow I doubt that the Guevara groupies are hanging around Mr. Straight Talk.
