So I'm thinking that I may have to set up a Facebook account at some point if I want to be only slightly non-trendy. I know I'm supposed to be the "I am not trendy" guy, but my MySpace account is so non-trendy that it's like leeches.
But does the mantra of consolidation dictate that I jettison my Twitter account? (If you're new to reading my writings, note that I go into the occasional Aaron Copland kick.) This is what he read. This is what Ontario Emperor read:
Jaiku gets taken out by google!
Here's part of what Google had to say about the acquisition:
Technology has made staying in touch with your friends and family both easier and harder: living a fast-paced, on-the-go lifestyle is easier (and a lot of fun), but it's more difficult to keep track of everyone when they're running around at warp speed. That's why we're excited to announce that we've acquired Jaiku, a company that's been hard at work developing useful and innovative applications for staying in touch with the people you care about most -- regardless of whether you're at a computer or on a mobile phone.
And Google has plans, even though they say they don't:
Although we don't have definite plans to announce at this time, we're excited about helping drive the next round of developments in web and mobile technology.
As it turns out, when I created the mrontemp blog, I made a conscious decision to standardize on Google technology in most cases (del.icio.us being the exception, but it can't handle the number of tags that I've given it so I barely use it any more). So, if I hadn't already signed up for Twitter, it would stand to reason that I'd probably get a Jaiku account (but, of course, I can't, because they're not accepting new applications at this time - good way to get a bit of buzz, I guess).
But I think I found one Blogger user who won't be adopting Jaiku any time soon.
Here's his profile.
Here's one of his blogs.
No, Biz Stone (co-founder of Twitter) probably won't be getting one of those Google Jaiku accounts when they become available.
Then again, he might. It's the best way to research your competition.

You know what they say - if you don't own your web presence, you're taking
a huge risk. For example, let's say that you decide to start the Red Green
