Kimkins - doesn't it make you sick?

Truemors links to this story.

The Kimkins diet was named after “Kimmer,” whose real name is Heidi Kimberly Diaz. She reported on low-carb dieting message boards that her modified Atkins plan allowed her to lose 198 pounds in 11 months. When people started asking her about the plan, she put up a website and started charging for memberships to reveal her secrets.

Woman’s World came calling and the money came pouring in. But the diet plan touted on the site is pretty scary and dangerous, with calories as low as 500 a day and a limit of 20 grams of carbs a day including carbs from fiber, which is much more strict that Atkins.

Kimmer says that we don’t need carbs or fat and that people on the diet should strive for a state of SNATT, or semi-nasueous all the time, which she claims shows that the diet is working but actually means the body is in distress.

Followers of the diet have complained of hair loss, irregular heartbeat, fainting and other problems. They report that Kimmer’s response to such problems is that they should eat fewer calories....

When Woman’s World decided to feature the diet, Kimmer refused to meet with the magazine in person and would only e-mail them a picture. By this time people in online forums were getting suspicious because her before and after pictures didn’t look anything alike and, in fact, she used several different “after” pictures that all looked like different people....

A private investigator was hired to follow Diaz....

But let's let the private investigator pick up the story:

I began this investigation with a bad address and no other information other than the name of Heidi Kimberly Diaz.

Through investigative techniques, I was able to locate Ms. Diaz's address. I attempted making contact with her at the front door to positively identify her. No one would come to the door. I looked down and observed a small trash bucket at the front entry door with Kimkins receipts facing up. This was the confirmation I needed that this was indeed the correct address....

I passed by her vehicle one day and noticed a tray of sugar cookies with sprinkles just recently opened and sitting on the passenger seat of her mini van. This from a woman telling other people to eat 500 to 800 calories a day all the while she is taking in much much more than that.

The first day out, Ms. Diaz drove to a local gas station and returned to her residence. She sat inside her vehicle for a half hour while talking on the cell phone. (Probably talking to a customer.) The video was short since Ms. Diaz did not engage in much activity....

Days went by and boredom crept in. I would exit my vehicle to walk through the apartment complex to stretch and get fresh air. While walking passed Ms. Diaz's apartment unit, I would look up and notice her in the window on the second level of the building. She would look down and smile while seated near at the window, typing away on her computer. I found it strange that a woman would sit at an open window without her wig, being that Heidi is bald....

The day finally came! Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Heidi finally emerges to depart from the area driving her mini van. The sweet thing that all investigators hope for while on surveillance...movement! I followed Ms. Diaz to a local mail drop where Kimkins customers send their mail. The sweet sweet sound, click click click of the camera as Ms. Diaz exited the vehicle to enter the mail drop. I say sweet sound only because this meant that the final moment had come. The ending of surveillance on a case of such drawn out inactivity. The clicking continued on as Ms. Diaz returned to her vehicle to depart with mail in hand.

She immediately drove to a local Norco bank to, I would assume, deposit fresh checks she had picked up at the mail drop....

This is the story of how I obtained the video and photos of Heidi Diaz.

And the video can be found here. And here. And here.

But here's some more on SNATT:

I don't think [SNATT] does subside with Kimkins, or rather the goal is to make it stay. After doing some research, it is a "badge of honor" to be SNATT from eating basically only low fat protein with very few calories. I know in Atkins (which I also don't do), it goes away after entering Ketosis, but in Kimkins, it stays. Kimmer even sells T-shirts that say "SNATT" on them. I think you hit the nail on the head with the "no appetite because you are sooo sick to your stomach" thing!!

Meanwhile, Kimmer herself (or someone using her name) was posting as late as October 3, 2007.

By October 4, admin was posting.

Hello there, great post. What is even more sickening is this still obese woman giggling at her deposition and seeing her paypal statement flash on the screen showing she made 1.2 million dollars in 1 month after the WW article.

KTLA aired some of the footage a couple of night ago

LoL Thanks! I like you too!

Thank you for helping to get the word out about the Kimkins Diet Scam.

It really is sick that she would take advantage of people like this.

Hopefully, getting the word out will help warn people away from the scam.
