More on the Jose Mourinho Departure

As expected, Soccerlens has some good coverage of Jose Mourinho's departure from Chelsea. But the true gems are in the comments. For example:

All in all, this is not a good sign of things to come in the EPL. A coach who has already delivered gets a few things wrong for the first few matches and gets fired. Is the Chelsea board this myopic? Or did the man just say “**** it all, I quit”?

Regarding the employment status of successful coaches, two words suffice: Fabio Capello.

Chelsea's first statement on the topic was...um...succinct:

Chelsea Football Club and José Mourinho have agreed to part company today (Thursday) by mutual consent.

Later, they said a little more. For some reason I can't quote directly from the website, but apparently this "by mutual consent" is the operative word, since the Chelsea "open letter" stated that Mourinho "did not resign and...was not sacked."

But you have to wonder when one person is replaced with a two-headed monster. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.
